When I saw the recipe for easy homemade salsa on Facebook, I had to try it. Mine isn’t as bright red as the picture circulating on FB. In fact, it’s even browner than my photo suggests. Flavor? Well, I have the feeling my favorite restaurant salsa has a lot more salt … or something. I used 1 large jalapeno pepper. If I ever make it again, I’ll use two, or I’ll try serrano. In other words, I need to work with this recipe to get the flavor I like.
Perhaps I just needed a little more cilantro. Hmm, that sounds like an introduction to August’s Flavor of the Month.
If you did not see it on Facebook, here is the recipe:
CHOP 5-6 Roma tomatoes, 1 small onion, 1/2 cup of cilantro.
MINCE 2 seeded serrano or jalepano peppers and 1 clove of garlic.
COMBINE all these ingredients and add 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice, and salt and pepper to taste.
Let it sit overnight.
Bring on the chips!
